AP6 Series – Optional Accessories
| Powering your AP6 Series | As your AP6 Series access point will be supplied without a power source, you will need a compatible PoE injector or switch. An external power supply is available for the AP6 420. Check the technical specifications to determine if you need 802.3at (PoE+) or 802.3bt (PoE++). Further information and guidance on the AP6 Series power requirements can be found here: https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KBA-000008427?language=en_US To reap the full benefits of the multigigabit connectivity on most AP6 Series models, we would highly recommend using one of our 2.5G switches. Further details can be found here: https://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/sophos-switch. | |
| Mounting Kits | Optional mounting kits are available for all indoor AP6 Series models for flat-ceiling, plenum, or suspend mount. Check with your local Sophos partner for further details and pricing. | |
| Antenna Options for AP6 420X | In addition to the omnidirectional antennas supplied with the unit, we also offer external antenna options for the outdoor AP6 420X to meet the requirements of additional usage scenarios. These can be purchased separately.
As the name suggests, the standard omnidirectional antennas are designed to provide relatively even coverage around the unit in all directions. These are suitable for usage scenarios where the connecting clients will be distributed around the access point. In some outdoor areas, there may be obstructions which can interfere with the signal. With directional/sector antennas, you achieve targeted coverage across an extended range and reduce wasted signal. | ![]()
